Web Space and Your WWW Home Page
Ringling College web space is a storage location where information can be published on the Internet. Each user can request a Web Space via technical support ticket and then set up their Web Space to allow others on our campus Wifi and VPN connections to access their Home Page. This user web page is currently accessible via the URL "https://web.ringling.edu/~username" where username corresponds to your Ringling College username.
Publishing Your Web Space
To publish your web space, place all files (drag and drop or copy and paste) that you want to make accessible via the Web, with all images and downloads, into your web space. There are now two methods to connect and alter files in your webspace:
Accessing your webspace via Secure FTP:
- This is accomplished via Secure-FTP to webspace.ringling.edu on port 2222, starting on August 8, 2012. For specific applications such as Dreamweaver, you will want to follow the instructions included with the application. In the site settings for your application, you will want to choose Secure-FTP and enter the following connection details:
Protocol: SFTP, Secure-FTP, or SCP depending on the application
Server: webspace.ringling.edu
Port: 2222 - The index.html page will be the first page displayed when accessing http:/www.ringling.edu/~username, where username corresponds to your Ringling College username. Therefore, you must at least have an index.html page in order for your pages to be published properly.
Please contact us at support@ringling.edu if you require assistance.
