KeyAccess Complains It Cannot Access the KeyServer

Symptom
Any of the following symptoms may apply:

  • You launch an application, and the computer cannot connect to the KeyServer.
  • KeyClient states that it is not compatible with the Key Server.

Cause
The KeyServer address is pointing to the wrong location or they KeyClient software is outdated.

Solution
Download the latest copy of KeyClient and install it on the MacBook Pro provided through the notebook program. When prompted, the KeyServer Address is "ks.ringling.edu". "Make sure the computer is connected to the Internet during the install.

After installation, follow these steps:

  1. Open System Preferences (located in Apple icon at top left of the screen)
  2. Click on “KeyAccess” at the bottom of the window.
  3. In the textbox labeled “KeyServer Address,” erase what is there and type “ks.ringling.edu”
  4. Click on the button labeled “Logon.”
  5. A message should pop up stating that the system connected successfully to the KeyServer.

The applications should open successfully with an Internet connection.
