Take a Screenshot in Mac OS X

Here are some simple steps to capture a screenshot on networked Ringling desktop computers running Mac OS X. We use this method because the default location for screen shots is the Desktop whose permissions prevent saving to this location.  

Keyboard Shortcut Method

To get crosshairs for partial screen selection

• Press and release keys: Control + APPLE [Command] + SHIFT + 4 
• Select the portion of the screen you want to capture
• The screenshot will be placed on your clipboard which you can then paste into an application that supports png image formats

To capture the entire screen to the clipboard

• Press and release keys: Control + APPLE [Command] + SHIFT + 3
