Purpose of the Program
The Wireless Notebook Computer Program is an initiative to provide notebook computers for all entering freshmen and new incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors to augment their instructional laboratory experience and contribute to a more effective higher education learning appreciation. We believe that the artist’s success in today’s competitive world is dependent on both creative vision and expertise. Ringling College is committed to providing students with knowledge and technical experience needed for lifelong learning. We believe that continued use of the notebook can enhance that adventure.
Note: Incoming transfer students are supplied with a notebook matching what the rest of their peers would have received as incoming freshmen, so brand, model, and software specifications may not necessarily match what is listed above.
HP Zbook x2 G4
Designed for the Creative Professional, the ZBook x2 G4 is an Ultrabook Qualified notebook and tablet computer with an Intel® Core™ i7-8650U processor (1.9 GHz, up to 4.2 GHz with Turbo Boost, 8 MB Cache, 4 core).
It has a 14" diagonal UHD DreamColor B-LED UWVA for FHD Webcam + IR slim Touchscreen (3840x2160) and contains a NVIDIA® Quadro® M620 2 GB dedicated GDDR5 graphics chipset.
It has 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR4 2133 of main memory (RAM) and for storage contains a 512 GB Z Turbo Drive G2 MLC Solid State Drive (SSD)
Wireless capabilities include an Intel® 8265 ac 2x2 (802.11ac Wi-Fi)+Bluetooth 4.2 chip so you can get online quickly and also use the Touchpad Backlit Soft Cover keyboard either attached magnetically with its quick connect feature or wirelessly several feet away!
On the outside it has a 720P wIR/8MP Dual Webcam plus a full resolution camera on the back so you don't have to waste time transferring pictures and you can take selfies or sign in optionally with facial recognition! If that's not your thing, it also comes equipped with a Fingerprint Reader for secure, quick login without needing to type a password.
You can connect your peripherals using the built-in USB type C (Thunderbolt 3) | USB 3.1 Gen1 | HDMI 2.0 ports and it has a convenient SD/SDHC/SDXC memory Card Reader too!
The 4 Cell 70 WHr Long Life battery will let you use the computer in desktop or tablet mode for hours
Did we mention there's a stylus too? You will be able to draw directly on the 4K Dreamcolor display up to a billion colors using the ZBook x2 Pen, which doesn't require charging!
Zbook models distributed in 2019 come with a 3 years parts, 3 years labor Warranty from HP. Accidental damage and replacement of certain consumable items such as batteries may incur out-of-pocket costs should they no longer be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. By checking out the notebook you are agreeing be financially responsible for excessive damage, loss,or theft, and since those things are not covered under the manufacturer warranty, we highly encourage you to purchase renter's insurance.
Return Dates
Notebook computers, the power adapters, and included accessories are due back within five days of graduation, withdrawal, or dismissal from Ringling College. Students may keep the notebook over the summer as long as they are registered for the upcoming semester.
What's Included
The HP ZBook x2 G4 is an Ultrabook Qualified notebook and tablet computer with detachable wireless keyboard, touchscreen and pen stylus for drawing directly on the screen. It is preloaded with Windows 10, and Ringling-licensed Adobe and Microsoft software suites which are yours to use for your tenure at the college.
