The Purpose of the Program
The Wireless Notebook Computer Program is an initiative to provide notebook computers for all entering freshmen and new incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors to augment their instructional laboratory experience and contribute to a more effective higher education learning appreciation. We believe that the artist’s success in today’s competitive world is dependent on both creative vision and expertise. Ringling College is committed to providing students with knowledge and technical experience needed for lifelong learning. We believe that continued use of the notebook can enhance that adventure.
Note: Incoming transfer students are supplied with a notebook matching what the rest of their peers would have received as incoming freshmen, so brand, model, and software specifications may not necessarily match what is listed above.
The Wacom MobileStudio Pro is a 16 inch Windows-based tablet designed for the Creative Professional. It offers you a whole studio of creative tools for a seamless workflow from 2D to 3D on a bigger canvas. Plus the powerful mobile pen computer features the new Wacom Pro Pen 2!
2022 and 2023 Grads
The HP ZBook x2 G4 is an Ultrabook Qualified notebook and tablet computer with detachable wireless keyboard, touchscreen and pen stylus for drawing directly on the screen. It is preloaded with Windows 10, and Ringling-licensed Adobe and Microsoft software suites which are yours to use for your tenure at the college.
The Apple MacBook Pro notebook computer is suitable for general purpose and discipline specific academic computing needs. Each notebook computer comes with a standard software suite which includes: email, web browser, and iLife (iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto, iWeb, and GarageBand). The notebook program provides an office productivity suite and graphics utilities in addition to the standard software suite. Students with notebook computers have access to many campus network resources, including black and white laser printing throughout campus. This web site details how to use the notebook computer with Ringling College’s network resources and how to troubleshoot issues that may emerge.
Notebook computers, the power adapters, and included accessories are due back within five days of graduation, withdrawal, or dismissal from Ringling College. Students may keep the notebook over the summer as long as they are registered for the upcoming semester.
